HOW IT IS USED
- Walk-around inspection rounds: gas/oil fields, chemical plants, grain silos — operator carries the unit, logs readings, photos and signatures at the asset.
- Control-room companion: same data model as the DCS/HMI, so a field reading lands in the same database without transcription.
- Turnaround/maintenance: permit-to-work, isolation certificates and LOTO checklists executed on the device.
- Warehouse inside EX zones: the same scanning workflow as a standard WMS, with the certified unit.
- Android build managed through MDM — the WMS/ERP app ships as a managed package, kiosk-mode locks the device to the workflow app.

- The certificate is attached to the exact hardware configuration — add a battery, camera or dock and the label may no longer apply. Quote the full BOM through the certification holder.
- Battery swaps must use certified packs; third-party batteries void the EX approval.
- Zone 1 vs Zone 2 are different approvals — confirm the area classification before ordering, not after.
- Repairs must go through the authorised EX service line; a standard repair shop invalidates the certificate.
- Check the Android security-update window against the project life in the quotation — a 5-year project on a 3-year update SKU leaves a gap.
